Wear components and compliance thresholds

1. Purpose of this appendix

This appendix specifies, by device category, the list of components subject to natural wear and the compliance thresholds that each device must meet upon delivery in order to be deemed compliant within the meaning of OPP!'s Terms of Sale.

The cosmetic grade (A+, A, B, C…) as defined at https://oppshop.fr/grading describes the visual condition of the device. This appendix specifies the additional functional condition criteria.

2. General principle

Every device delivered by OPP!:

• has been bench-tested in our workshop in Nantes
• meets the minimum thresholds defined below on the delivery date
• has had its thermal paste replaced (desktops and laptops)
• has been cleaned, dusted, and software-reset

Wear components are not covered by OPP!'s commercial warranty for their normal degradation after delivery. However, abnormally rapid degradation (§7) remains covered.

7. Special case: abnormally rapid degradation after delivery

Although wear components are excluded from the commercial warranty for their normal degradation, OPP! covers any abnormally rapid degradation occurring after delivery, which is considered a defect of the component.

By way of indication and without limitation, the following are considered abnormally rapid degradation:

• Battery: capacity loss greater than 5% over 3 consecutive months in standard use, or a sudden drop in capacity ("death" of a cell)
• Fan: failure, abnormal noise, or seizing within the first 6 months
• Keyboard: failure of one or more keys not caused by an impact, within the first 12 months
• Screen: appearance of a dead pixel, a dead line, or discoloration of an area within the first 12 months
• Storage: SMART errors reported, bad sectors, abnormal TBW degradation within the first 12 months
• Connectors: mechanical failure of a port without impact or external intervention, within the first 12 months

These situations fall under the OPP! commercial warranty and are handled by after-sales support in accordance with the terms set out in the Terms of Sale.

8. Where a device does not meet the thresholds

If, during the OPP! workshop quality control, a device does not meet one of the thresholds defined above:

• Replaceable component, readily available: the component is replaced before the device is put up for sale
• Replaceable component but with a supply lead time of more than 5 business days: the device is placed on backorder and the customer is notified. OPP! offers a replacement with a device of equivalent or higher configuration, of the same or a higher grade
• Non-replaceable component or disproportionate replacement cost: the device is removed from the sales flow and sent for recycling via our partner eco-organization Ecosystem

In all cases, no device leaves the OPP! workshop without meeting all the thresholds of this appendix on the delivery date.

9. Inspection method

OPP! uses the following tools for quality control:

• Laptops and desktops: LongLife in-house software suite (automated test bench), SMART/NVMe tests via PowerShell and smartmontools, MemTest for RAM, screen check on a dedicated bench
• Smartphones and tablets: functional tests according to manufacturer procedures (Apple GSX, Samsung Smart Tester…)
• All devices: manual cosmetic inspection by a certified technician, grade assigned according to the grading guide

10. Changes to the thresholds

OPP! reserves the right to amend the thresholds in this appendix to reflect technological change and market standards. The version applicable to an order is the one in force on the date the order is validated, archived and available on request at contact@oppconnect.fr.
